Charles Hoskinson addresses students at the University of Wyoming’s Blockchain Stampede Speaker Series
Imagine a world where technology is no longer challenged for its biases, where the underlying architecture of these systems are designed to be inherently good, a place where the absence of having to trust someone is everyday practice. It’s a beautiful thing, when the advancement of emergent technologies can truly be used to progress society forward - to keep us informed, to connect us, to empower everyone to transact and engage in a global economy. That’s the transformative power of blockchain, and it was the heart of Input | Output CEO and Founder Charles Hoskinson’s recent keynote at the University of Wyoming’s Blockchain Stampede Speaker Series.
Charles’ message paid tribute to the great visionaries within the computer science community to serve as a reminder to the next generation that sometimes you have to look to the past for inspiration. The idea that theoretical papers in the research community around how quantum computing and cryptography could radically shape our digital infrastructure have somehow been forgotten. So now, it’s up to the next visionaries to learn from the leaders who walked before them, analyzing where they got the research right, but also where they got it wrong and how technologies that hadn’t even been conceptualized two decades ago can now play a part.
As the world anticipates new regulatory guidance from the United States under the new administration, the blockchain industry has entered a new era of acceptance. Digital creators will soon have the legal certainty to build and deploy technologies designed to bring transparency and accountability to antiquated digital systems, while offering custom solutions for privacy, digital identity, and beyond.
Charles’ message to the next generation of builders was simple: learn from the past, seize the opportunities of today, and create the innovations of tomorrow.
