Ricky Rand has been appointed as general manager of Input | Output Engineering (IOE). He brings a wealth of experience to the role, both from a technical and commercial perspective. This short blog post offers a glimpse into Ricky's experience and trajectory and a brief introduction to IOE.
Ricky's journey so far
Leading IOE required someone with a strong technical background, a keen instinct and skill for company and brand-building, and a solid and proven track record of commercial experience. Ricky perfectly embodies this persona with a degree in microprocessor engineering, a master's degree in internet computing and e-commerce, and the creation and delivery of innovative products for the Hong Kong stock market. On top of all that, he had worked as head of architecture for Cardano for about six months. The synergistic strength of these qualities rendered Ricky a unique and aptly suited individual for the role of IOE's general manager.
Serving the community, and beyond, with IOE
IOE is part of Input | Output's vision of spinning out different teams and divisions into new companies. In this particular case, the core engineering team is spinning out into exactly that, a new company, with the overall goal of establishing IOE as a development powerhouse capable of winning large-scale software projects across multiple industries where reliability, safety, and security are critical.
Ricky favors a cooperative approach to building Cardano, in the sense that IOE will closely work with the Cardano community to help build its dreams and aspirations for the blockchain. IOE itself has great ambitions and future plans for the Cardano ecosystem, and IOE personnel can back these ambitions with their combined experience, deep domain knowledge, and collective talent.
Besides serving as an active and contributing member alongside the community, IOE will also work to scale up the mainnet through extraneous partnerships and collaborations to innovate, inspire, and further drive blockchain adoption and growth.
Speaking about his appointment, and IOE as a whole, Ricky said that ‘IOE is full of people who believe in blockchain and love Cardano. We are around 100 people and collectively, we have unrivaled experience, deep domain knowledge in Cardano, and abundant talent to significantly improve Cardano for the whole community.’
